Trekking Route: Delhi – Leh – Stok drive – Mankarmo – Stok Kangri – Stok Kangri Summit – Rumbak – Gandala – Gandala – Skio Monastery – Markha – Tchatchutse – Nimaling – Kangyatze – Kongmaru La – Shang Sumdo – Hemis

 

Day 01: Leh

After landing at Leh airport, meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Leh. Take good rest as at such elevations, it is extremely important to be accustomed to the climate. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 02: Leh

In the morning after breakfast, visit Thiksey Monastery which is the finest example of Ladakhi architecture. This Monastery is located on the top of a hill in solitude which lies at a distance of 20 km away from Leh. It is a twelve storey monastery complex with a number of wall paintings, stupas, statues and thangkas. There is also a large pillar engraved with Buddha’s teachings. Then visit Shey monastery and palace that is located 15 km from Leh. It was built in sixteenth century A.D. This monastery has a 10 meter high gilder copper statue of Lord Buddha. Visit Hemis Monastery, which is notable for its rich compilation of ancient remnants like the stupas, made of gold and silver, statue of Buddha made of copper. Monastery also has sacred Thangkas, murals and various artifacts. Situated in the foothills of Indus at a distance of 45 km from Leh, the monastery has access to motorable roads. The massive structure of Hemis Monastery is unique and depicts a specific style of architecture. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 03: Leh – Stok drive – Mankarmo (4 Hours Trek)

After having breakfast drive to Stok and visit Stok Museum. The architecture of Stok Palace is a fine mingling of the traditional and the contemporary architectural styles, comprising of beautiful gardens as well as a library that houses 108 volumes of the Kangyur (collection of teachings of Lord Buddha), The museum rooms in the palace also showcase family treasures, including queen’s ancient turquoise-and-gold encrusted crown and a sword that the king’s Oracle managed to bend into a knot known as the Uri Geller–style and then we start our first day of trek to Mankarmo which will take 4 hours of easy walk. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 04: Mankarmo – Stok Kangri BC (4 Hours Trek)

From Mankarmo, it will take about 4 hours to reach to the base camp area of Stok Kangri. This trek embraces deserted surroundings and offer trekkers the opportunity to experience the complete calm and solitude. The whole trail has incorporated many ridges so you can feel the sudden change in scenery. In the afternoon you can walk above camp for having sight of the surrounding peaks of Stok Kangri (6150 meters), Gulap Kangri, Paracha Kangri and many more. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 05: BC – Stok Kangri Summit – BC 7 to 8 Hours Trek

Based on your fitness and weather, you can either go for a one day ascent from our base camp or choose established high camp, from which we can make the summit push on the following day. The final part of the climb will involve the use of crampons and ice axe on snow slopes up to about 35 degree. The climb will be very strenuous at an altitude of over 6000 meters. The summit views are spectacular stretching from Karakoram peaks. Return to the base camp. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 06: BC – Rumbak 4 to 5 Hours Trek

After breakfast walk towards Rumbak that will take around 4-5 hours of comfortable walk to reach there. This trek, one of the most varied and beautiful ones, ventures high into the Himalayas, through narrow valleys. Vast expanses and trekkers are rewarded by views of jagged snow-capped peaks. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 07: Rumbak – Gandala BC (4900M) 5 Hours Trek

Start for a more lofty trek headed for Gandal La Pass (4920m) that will provide amazing views of the Karakon and Stok ranges of the Himalayas. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 08: BC Gandala – Ski 4 Hours Trek

Begin descending into a valley via notable gorges to the ancient Skio Monastery placed in a picturesque setting in the Markha valley. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 09: Skiu – Markha 7 Hours Trek

From Skio, take a path on the right bank of Markha valley. Markha Valley trek trails wind past willow groves, alongside patches of wild roses and through canyons decorated with multi coloured Tibetan prayer flags rising and falling in the breeze. Then cross right bank of river and pass through barren plain and reach Chaluk. From there on walk by the left bank of river and after another crossing, ascend towards Markha village. Markha (3800m) is the largest village in the valley consisting of a ruined fort, around 20 houses and an old monastery. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 10: Markha – Tchatchutse 6/7 Hours Trek

Today trek is headed for the main valley on the right bank. The path is difficult at the river bed. The trek goes through monastery of Humlung. The path becomes better and then cross a broad valley on the right side. The valley turns into narrow and higher and now cross bridges on to the left bank and then arrive at Tchatchuste. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 11: Tchatchutse – Nimaling (4700 M) 3 Hours Trek

After breakfast, trek on a pathway with several small descents. Walk alongside a small lake and there is a stream on the other side. You have to cross pasture fields to reach Nimaling. This is one of most wonderful high valleys in Ladakh. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 12: Nimaling – BC of Kangyatze (6400 M)

Today begin your trek with a comfortable walk upto Kangyatze via pastures. Soon after passing the notable sight called “Lakeview” you will reach Kang Yatze peak base camp. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 13 – Day 16

Start climbing various peaks depending upon the condition of the group and weather. Overnight stay in base camp.

 

Day 17: BC – KongmaruLa (5150M) – Shang Sumdo (6 Hours Trek)

Pass over Markha valley and follow the trail along the mountain side. Then there is zig zag road that leads to Kongmarula. From there walk to a wonderful campsite and you may visit a monastery which is an hour away from the village. Overnight stay in camp.

 

Day 18: Shang Sumdo – Hemis (4 Hours Trek) – Leh (1 ½ Hours Drive)

Trek will start from the riverbed, you reach a dusty trail. From there it becomes appropriate for motor vehicles. Leave Martsellang on the right and follow a gently rising trail headed for Hemis. You may visit Hemis monastery again and later on drive towards Leh. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 19: Leh

Transfer to Leh airport for your onward destination.
