Nakee La Pass

Nakee-la is a pass at an elevation of 15,647 ft above the sea level, located on the Manali-Leh highway. This Pass is third of the five passes to be crossed while traveling from Manali to Leh. It is between Sarchu and Pang. Heavy snowfalls, avalanches and landslides can occur anytime and can sometimes block some sections of the road. The ascent to the pass is called 21 ‘Gata loops’. It’s 23 Km ascent from 4250 meters to 4980 meters to the Nakee-la, with 21 hairpin bends. The weather in this area is harsh and highly unpredictable and it does not take much time for the bright sun shine to change over to moderate to heavy snow fall.
