Communication You will hardly find any problem related to communication in Leh Ladakh. The towns of Leh and Kargil especially, have worldwide direct dial telephone facility. Apart from that, there are a number of PCOs (Public Call Offices) in Leh to facilitate communication in the region. The General Post Office as well as the Telegraph Office in the Leh town also helps in communication.

Also, most of the hotels in Ladakh provide e-mail facilities to their guests. Even the State Tourism Department has its own wireless radiophone network that links its offices at Leh, Kargil and Padum, with those at Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi.

The J & K Tourism Department has installed its own wireless radiophone network linking interconnected field stations with its offices at Leh, Kargil and Padum and base stations in the Tourist Office at Delhi , Jammu and Srinagar. The field stations are supplemented with moble sets used to bring remote locations and mountain bases within the ambit of the communications network during the tourist season. The facility is mainly used to monitor the movement and welfare of tourists in the State, it is especialy useful in ensuring timely rescue arrangements for tourists falling ill or meeting with accidents.

Telephone & Fax and post facilities are available in Leh, Padum, Kargil and Nubra valley.

Internet Services

In leh, it is quite easy to find the Internet Cafe's with USB ports in PC's. But in remote areas of Ladakh, no internet service may be available.

Mobile Services

There is One operator BSNL which provides mobile service in Ladakh. It does not have tie up with most of international operators and therefore it is advisable to buy a local BSNL sim card and use it there. You can use your own mobile phone instument if it has GSM dual bank compatibility.
